From Iraq...

Tara,
My e mail got sent to the McCain office? That is awesome. You could have used my name if you wanted too. The Americans should know what is going on in Iraq and the incredible things going on out here other than what they think and believe. They need to look at the bigger picture and realize the great things going on here and how the Iraq population have benefited because of us here. They have a military now.
I just saw on Armed Forces Network, our news source, that the Iraqi Warrant Officer school just graduated the most recruits this past week. I didn't hear how long it has been since they had a class this size. I have personally talked with the locals in Baghdad and here in Ramadi and they have all told us how much we have changed their lives for the best.
In the short time being here, they have come out of the houses fearless of what could happen. Know they can find work and support the family. Have dreams and goals. Given them hope and courage to go out and do instead of just hope for one day. That day is here and they are enjoying it. I have always heard what the media said and listened to that, but also I have heard the soldiers side when I found out they were serving here. I joined in '99 to come out here and make a difference but little was being done here for a couple reasons.
One, a Demo was in office and two, there wasn't a war going on. I knew one day there will be a time where I came out here to make a difference. I tried as soon as this stuff happened but in the medical field they weren't sending people as much. When it came time to re enlist, I joined the MP Corps with it being one of the big jobs over here. Also with the National Guards awesome reputation and rapid deployment, I went that way.
I am glad to have my chance here and see what our government is doing here. We are doing great things even though you don't hear bout it going on in th e media. I wish the media would highlight some great things we have done. Then people wouldn't be so anti war cause war isn't always bad. It isn't always destroy and conquer.

It is a fighting force to help change for the better.

I am thankful of being an American everyday and even more proud to wear this uniform. There are people who wish they could put on this uniform but they have served their time and retired. They did us proud. Others who would like to wear this uniform but can't may have a medical flaw that may keep them from joining. I am in this uniform for them. Then we have those who would burn the uniform we wear just to disrespect what we stand for. I also wear this uniform for them.

Why? Cause they too are Americans and they no better what they believe. One day their eyes will open up and see the real picture. As always, it is great to get a message from you. Give my best to everyone for me please from us in Iraq. We will continue to do a great job out here for not just the soldiers but for the American and Iraqi relationship.

Letter From Jeff In Iraq

This e-mail was sent to an "adopter" and thank you so much, Maria, for sharing this with the rest of us.

Hi Maria,

Thank You so much for the package. You couldn't have sent it at a better time, because Wednesday, I start guard duty. The snacks will come in handy for when I am on duty and I can watch the DVD when I am of duty. Thank you so much for taking the time to send the package, I really appreciate them.

We are going to be moving down to BIAP (the Green Zone) in July and have to be up and running by 25 July. That is when we have to be fully operational again. Its only about 20 minute flight southeast of here.

We are having to work longer hours since they have started the offensive in Bahgdad and Sadr City. Our helicopters are the ones that mostly doing all the attacking from the air. We are being required to do more major maintenance on them. About 2 or 3 days before we get one done, we have another one waiting on us. I really don't mind having to work longer because it sure makes time pass faster.

We have been getting on dust storm after another. The other day it rained and added more misary to the situation. It was just hot and then the rain added humidity to the air. After that, it was misariable then.

I hope you are all doing well. Take care and I will write again soon,
Jeffrey Milspaw, Iraq

P.S. I am really sorry that I forgot to thank you for the Sour Skittles. I want to Thank you very much for them. I couldn't believe that you sent a box of them. They were a pleasent suprise to find them in the package. Thank you for remembering them!

Urgent: Adopt A Trooper Today!

Please share with your friends and family and encourage them to pass on to others.

In the last month we received about 25 to 40 troops a day that wanted to be adopted but not near enough "adopters" ....so if you could let them all know, I have about 150 NOT adopted yet. And instead of going to the website and filling out all the info.anyone can send directly to me and I will get all their info into the data base and send them the name and all the information.

Thank you!

Send to Julieann Najar
founder of ASWL
proud mother of a wounded Iraqi war veteran
proud "adopted" mother to over 28,000 troops:

And she will do the rest.
And if you know of those who want to "adopt-a-trooper" but don't have a computer, they can call her at
314-440-6859 and she will do it over the phone to help them out.

United States Marines Who Need LETTERS!

ATTENTION AMERICA !

It has been brought to my attention that there are a group of US Marines based from Great Lakes Naval Base, now deployed in Iraq , who are not getting any mail. Not a note, not a love letter, not a care package has been received by them.

Retired Marine and dear friend Marty Smith has been in communication with Col. Curt Ames, USMC, and according to Col. Ames' contact in Iraq, these Marines never get any mail. I was asked to "drum up some business" for these outstanding Americans. I know that from past requests like this one, many of you have stepped up beyond anyone's imagination and delivered "big time" to our heroes overseas.

Well, ... I am asking for support again. Their names are ...

Cpl Adams, Michael D
Sgt Bleuer, Cassandra D
Cpl Calderon, Jose
Cpl Camp, Jesse S

A Soldier's Wishlist: Introduction To The Blog

Hey all!

This is going to be where I post requests, letters and photos that I receive from A Soldier's Wishlist and some of our troops over in Iraq.

If there are any addresses posted, please use them respectfully and seriously. These are going to real people with real feelings and jobs that make your job at the cashier's counter look like fresh-made pie. =)

These are primarily compiled from recent emails from my mother's friend, Julieann, who helped start the Soldier's Wishlist years ago. It might give you an idea of what is going on in the Middle East....I guarantee it will be better than watching FOX. ;-)
